Pre-school is often a place where our kids first start to interact with other children. Some kids are lucky enough to meet friends that they will know for the rest of their lives. Pre-school is an opportunity for you child to grown and learn. This is where they learn to share, follow directions, and begin the foundations that will set them off into their future education. Experts say that children that have started in pre-school are often more successful then those who have not entered pre-school. It prepares you child for kindergarten and will launch them on the path toward success.

Pre-school promotes emotional and social development. When a child first leaves their parents, it may be scary, so the child needs to still feel cared for, and comfortable in this new habitat. In most good pre-schools, the teachers often go to the parents as experts on their children. They will usually send home weekly, maybe even daily reports on your child. The child will learn social skills and emotional self control. You may find that has your child progresses, they may act out less and less. The teachers won’t always step in to resolve these conflicts right away, they want to let the children resolve their conflicts.

Pre-school is a structured environment in which your child will learn to play well with others and make honest decisions. Children will be able to make their own choices, such as activities and other things. If a child tends to wander on his own, he may be offered advice on how to join in on a group. Don’t get it wrong – this isn’t a place where kids can do anything they want but they are encouraged to make their own choices and can often sometimes be rewarded for the actions and choices they make.

Children will learn to not only take care of themselves – but others as well. They will learn to grow as they start to know how to take care of themselves and help others in tasks and learn to share. The teachers will offer to have the children help around in the class room, such as cleaning and passing out snacks. These children will learn to listen. When it comes to activities such as “circle time” or reading, the children will be forced to listen to the authority that is the teacher. They will have to wait their turn to talk as others talk before them.

Pre-school teaches pre-math and pre-literacy skills. Often times, the teacher will turn learning into a game, such as singing the ABC’s or spelling games like Hang Man. When it comes to reading time, the teacher may pass out the book that they are reading and the child will be able to follow along. Last of all, it helps them with their motor skills. The child’s physical coordination may improve because the child is in motion for the entire day with the exception of nap time. These are the reasons why it is important for you child to go to pre-school.
